The best football strikers ever

In football the striker is the player whose main goal is to score as many goals as possible. There have been many great strikers, but who are the greatest strikers ever?

Pele It is not surprisingly that Pelé is our greatest striker ever, if you only look at his statistics you will see why. The Brazilian scored 1281 goals in 1363 games, a number which hasn't been repeated by any player until today. Pelé scored goals on several ways, always looking for a possibility to shoot on goal. He was a great header although he wasn't the tallest, he scored several bicycle goals but the way he scored most of his goals was with he's great kick, Pelé could shoot very well with both of his legs.

Ferenc Puskás

Ferenc Puskás Hungarian player Puskás was a great striker, he had one of the best shots in football history. This helped him score a lot of goals , he scored 513 goals in 528 matches. As a captain of Hungary Puskas scored 84 times in 85 matches, helping them win a gold medal at the 1952 Olympics, and a place in the final of the 1954 FIFA World Cup.

Ronaldo Ronaldo was the greatest striker of the late '90s and early '00s. In this period he was just unstoppable, he could score from any position at any moment. The Brazilian always scored a lot of goals at any team he played with. At the 2006 World Cup Ronaldo scored his 15th World Cup goal and became record holder of scoring the most goals at World Cups.

Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona Maradona only on four, surprised? No this list is about the best strikers ever and Maradona was more an attacking midfielder, however Maradona was still a great finisher, he could score out of incredible positions, with incredible shots but he also created a scoring change from nowhere by dribbling past defenders like they were not there. It helped him score a lot of goals.

Eusébio Eusébio, nicknamed "The Black Panther" was the first big player born in Africa. He is Benfica´s all-time top scorer with 638 goals in 614 matches. Eusébio impressed with Portugal at the 1966 World Cup where he became top scorer with 9 goals.

Marco van Basten

Marco van Basten Ajax and Milan hero, van Basten was a great striker. He won the European Championship with Holland in 1988, becoming top scorer of the tournament with 5 goals. He was a very talented player but was forced to retire his career early at age 30 due to an ankle injury.

Gerd Müller

Gerd Müller Müller won the World Cup with West-Germany in 1974 , he scored a total of 68 goals in 62 matches for the national team. He was nicknamed "Der Bomber" because of his incredible scoring ability. He scored 401 goals in 441 matches as a striker of Bayern Munich.

Fernando Peyroteo

Fernando Peyroteo Few will have heard about him, but Fernando Peyroteo is the player with the highest goals per game ratio (1.68). Compare this with Pelé who has a ratio of 0.96 goals per game. Peyroteo played as a striker of Sporting during the 40's where he scored 331 goals in 187 games. Although it was a different time without European football, he remains one of the greatest strikers ever.

Arthur Friedenreich

Arthur Friedenreich Friedenreich played even before WWI, from 1909 to 1935. There is not much footage of him but his number of goals is amazing. There is confusion about the exact number, some say he scored 1239 goals in 1329 games, while others suggest it were 1329 goals in 1239 games. Friedenreich was nicknamed "The King of Football" before Pelé took this title.

Romario He is one of the few players that scored more than 1000 goals. He was the striker of Barcelona's dream team during the early 90's that was coached by Johan Cruyff. He won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994, winning the golden ball for best player.

Truly without any questions,Pele is the best striker ever, regardless of want people say. And no one will even come close to match him.2 Ronaldo R9 Phennomino for brazil. As for messi and ronaldo cr7,cr7 is the best, he is a complete striker as compared to messi, he can score with his head and legs. The reality is Barcelona without messi they are incomplete messi without Barcelona is incomplete and this is seen when he is playing for Argentina.People should consider this fact.

Cr7 is the best
remmie   April 8, 2013 at 12:04 pm
Messi scores better than RC7 given he’s in barca. Let him show us his ability in a different environment (in absence of iniesta and xavi) and we shall believe in his scoring power. CR7 has already done it in man-u and real, articulating his scoring as being entirely independent of the teammates! You cannot compare ronaldo’s trio power to messi’s mono power. I mean, messi relies on his only left leg to score unlike RC7 who can perfectly net with either of his legs or a header facilitated by his powerful jump!
remmie   April 8, 2013 at 11:50 am
As per the opinion of many, the list could be as follows; 1. Ronaldo (R9) 2. Ronaldo (CR7) 3. Pele 4. Messi 5. Diego maradona My own opinion, the best striker ever is pele, Ronaldo R9, messi,CR7(bearing in mind he’s not a forward but attacking mid), the rest…… Best all round player in history.. Undisputable RONALDINHO GAUCHO, ronaldo R9, the rest can follow.
remmie   April 8, 2013 at 11:29 am
in my own opinion, i think its very wrong to pronounce Ronaldo De Assis Moreira aka ronaldinho gaucho and Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima(R9) in the same sentence as any other football player. both remains football idols but gaucho clicks as a football god. he was super talented and his incredible skills have never been repeated. "he was created purposely for football" many say so.

Romario In Leagues in which he played Romario the total average score was 2,68 The average score of Romario in the Leagues in which he played is 0,77 0.77:2.68=x:1 X=0.287 This is the real value of the goals of Romario
Super   March 31, 2013 at 5:16 pm
This is the real value of the goals of Romario Ronaldo In Leagues in which he played Ronaldo the total average score was 2,55 The average score of Ronaldo in the Leagues in which he played is 0,75 0.75:2.55=x:1 x=0,29 This is the real value of the goals of Ronaldo Pelč In Leagues in which he played Pelč the total average score was 3.2 The average score of Pelč in the Leagues in which he played is 0,93 x=0,29 these are the real values of the goals, incompetent idiot
Super   March 31, 2013 at 5:12 pm
this classific is so stupid Comparing the average score of players who played in different eras without making an adjustment is by incompetent. I i makes a series of calculations to find out what is the real value of the average goal Muller, Puskas, Van Basten, Romario and Ronaldo. makes 40 goals in a league where the average score is 3 not equal to make 40 goals in a league where the average score is 2, ok?? if you want to know what is the average score of a player in a league where you mark a certain number of goals per game, you must make a simple proportion in relation to a common unit (a hypothetical league where you make a goals per game). scoring average: average goals per game = x: 1 Now the scoring average in the league in which he played Gerd Muller without considerae the second division was 3.29 The average score of Muller in the championships in which he played is 0.80. 0.80:3.29=x:1 (0.8*1)/3.29=0.24 X=0.24 This is the real value of the goals of Muller in semi-professional leagues In the Leagues in which he played, without consider the second division. Puskas The total average goals in all leagues where he played Puskas was 3.88 The average goals of Puskas is 0,97 0.97:3.88=x:1 x=0.25 This is the real value of the goals of Puskas in non professional leagues
